This Is No Drill…
“Time’s Up” is a visceral anthem that confronts society’s complacency with relentless musical energy.Ā The lyrics, “Your time is up this is no drill / the seas are rising and the fires are raging still,” convey an urgent, apocalyptic warning. The chorus, “A dream deferred, never stopping to think / living our lives, somewhere out on the brink,” serves as a clarion call for immediate action against disasters fueled by greed, ignorance, and inaction. The urgency is mirrored in the song’s dynamic sound, starting with a shotgun burst of energy. The band locks into a driving rhythm that propels the song forward, intensifying as it builds to a powerful climax. Singer Joel De La Garzaās impassioned plea, “Lions, awake!” urges listeners to recognize their power and demand change in their world.
As a surprise to their fans, “Time’s Up” had its worldwide radio premiere the day before its release when the song was selected as the KUTX 98.9 FM Song of the Day. In the short time since its release, “Time’s Up” has amassed over 20,000 streams on Spotify alone – a huge reaction thus far for the emerging independent act.

Just For One Day…
The B-side of the single is a cover of David Bowie’s iconic ’77 smash “Heroes.” This juxtaposition highlights the band’s knack for balancing dark themes with hopeful messages. While “Time’s Up” channels urgency and frustration, “Heroes” offers a glimmer of hope, showcasing Rival Waves’ desire to combat despair with a message of love conquering all.
